Yoink - Better Drag and Drop App Reviews

Still wonderful After All These Years

There are very few apps that I have purchased and had no regrets. Yoink is one of them. 4 September 2015 Prior review: I purchased Yoink years ago and loved it. Spring loaded folders, and tabbed folders are okay but not my cup of tea. However, Yoink stopped working and eventually I gave up trying to get it to run. When this upgrade showed up I was hoping I would get Yoink, (one of my favorite apps) back. Alas, that was not the case. Determined, I totally deleted ALL old Yoink files and downloaded it again. IT WORKED!!! Yoink is a wonderful app that is not heavy with unnecessary bling. It does what it says, and it does it quickly and easily and with style. Ill assume the glitch I was having was due to one of my OS upgrades. Im just glad Yoink is back... and better than ever.

Works perfectly and very handy - terrific support too

I have been using this product for several years, and it has always worked perfectly. It is out of sight when not in use and automatically appears when needed. It couldnt be easier to use and is very handy and helpful. Today, for the first time, I had reason to reach the developer. He replied to my email within the hour and followed up to make sure all was well. Model support! Definitely recommend this to others without reservation.

Extremely useful

I am very glad I have this app. I use it frequently. Im glad they fixed the bug where it wouldnt go away in some circumstances. One addition in the latest version I do not like. I dont like that they hide some interface elements for a "cleaner" look, particularly because when I move my mouse near the item I want to drag, its icon moves away from the pointer as the hidden items appear. Its like its trying to run away from me. Weird.

Neccesary for OS X

Thank you guys for this opportunity! This version is brilliant, they fixed what i was sent them!

Awesome

Can’t live on a Mac without this App! Get it. You’ll love it.

Amazing it hasn’t been bought by Apple!

Best $5 I have ever spent, would be lost with out it.

Quiet Surprise

I never would have expected Yoink to become the most used utility (and maybe even app) on my Mac… what a quiet, pleasant surprise it has been. I’ve recently noticed duplicated “destination boxes” when dragging contents in the current version, but no functional issues — and never a bug which has bugged me. Nicely done. (updated much later… love, love, love, love, love - one for each *. I have a complete crush on Yoink)

Stellar App!

This App is really amazing! Not only is it a major time saver, but it makes my day to day work flow of uploading screenshots to the web for clients so easy. There is even a super cool automator workflow to allow you to send your screenshots directly into Yoink, this is great for me because it removes all the clutter from my desktop, usually at the end of the day I would spend time cleaning my desktop, now with Yoink and the automator workflow they are deleted with a single click, its crazy great. Seriously Yoink is Amazing!

Nice Job!

This app does an excellent job of stashing data to one side while you work on other stuff. It’s real simple: Drag/drop the files you’d like to move to Yoink, work on other stuff, then when the time is right, drag/drop the files over to the right spot. Very straightforward, and very very useful. I had a very minor issue/question, but received a very prompt reply that resolved everything. Well worth the five bucks. Thank you!!

Unbelievably Useful and Always Reliable

This is by far one of my most used utilities on my Mac. It it so incredibly useful and it always works as expected. The concept is so simple. And yet the utility goes far beyond this simplicity. It allows me to work with full screen apps in a much more efficient way because I never worry about “dropping” app or file icons when I am doing a drag and drop operation. I have been using it for along time and it has never crashed or given me any problems. If only all software were as useful and worked as well.

Not for Dual Displays

If dragging something from the second (external) monitor, then Yoink on the first monitor doesn’t detect that I’m even alive. To make it work, I have to drag from second monitor to desktop of first monitor— THEN drag from desktop to Yoink. So using the DESKTOP works faster with two monitors.

Really useful

Saves a lot of mousing around when youre copying or moving files. Clean interface, does what its supposed to. I dont ask any more from an app.

GTJD, and then some

as a drag n drop holding bin, it’s great. Helps with those dicey OneNote and Evernote PDF transfers. Groovey holding bin for NAS and Cloud transfers. On and on ONE FEATURE REQUEST TeMpOrArY Disable/Enable function. It holds the items out of site until reinabled. Then 5 stars

The best app you never knew you needed!

This is easily one of the best Apps I have purchased. You never knew you needed this until you try it for 10 sec. It works exactly as described; when I thought I had a small problem, the developer was very responsive.

Useful functionality, wonky interface

Yoink makes complicated drag-n-drops easier, especially when working in multiple spaces or with full-screen apps. For this, its worth the low price. I really wish the UI was friendlier, however, and more consistent with the rest of OS X. Here are some complaints/suggestions: 1. When dragging a file from the Desktop, the Yoink tray only appears if I first switch the currently running app to Finder. This is by far the most annoying thing. I keep files Im actively using on the edge of the Desktop, specifically to make them easier to drag-n-drop without switching apps. 2. A column of widgets appears when you try to drag something out of Yoink, which actually moves the icon youre trying to grab. So dragging out of Yoink requires hitting a moving target. This is a big UI no-no. 3. Those widgets are unnecessary anyway. Since you can select files in the tray, just use the Delete key to remove items and the Space bar to show QuickLook, which are standard OS X conventions. Rather than the lock/unlock widget, use Option-Drag or something similar to drag out of Yoink without removing the file from the tray. 4. (Minor) For some file types (e.g. .docx), the icon changes to a generic file icon even though I have "Show QuickLook Previews instead of file icons" enabled. If the drag-from-Desktop-in-background issue is fixed, and the unnecessary widgets replaced by the obvious key bindings, this would be a really great app.

Great file utility!

Yoink is a very handy utility for copying and moving files, a great addition to the native functionality of Finder. Easy to use, works well, worth the price. After many months of use, I had a minor issue involving a copy of a file that was stuck in Yoink. I emailed Yoink support and got a very prompt response. The problem was resolved.

Happy Experience

Yoink is everything it claims to be and more. Since downloading it last week it has worked flawlessly. It makes copying and pasting so much easier. When I read some negative reviews on Google I was concerned as they indicated there was no support for it. How incorrect this is? I needed to clarify why I could not see the app on my menu bar so I contacted Eternal Storms Software. Within a few hours I received a reply from Mathias answering my question and the following day I received a follow up email asking if my problem was resolved. This is the kind of customer service I appreciate and value. Christopher Slevin RN 2: 27: 2016: 10:42 AM

Buggy

I loved this app at first, the idea more than the implementation. I found another solution in the app store for a similar price that is both more stable, more functional, and more attractive, but would reconsider a future release of this app.

Useful and functional!

This little tool is extremly useful! Saved me lots of time moving things around. I’ve been using it for months and I didn’t see a single bug yet. It’s awesome!

Useful; better than Dropzone in some ways

I switched to this app because of a recomendation when it was on sale (I think). Whatever price, it is worht it. Yoink functions better than Dropzone 3 for me – it isn’t such a memory hog. Simple program that does exactly what you want it to. Great job.
