Do yourself a favour and install this immediately. I find myself using it daily and wonder how I ever functioned without it.
I have Mountain Lion on a Mac mini and a widescreen. I installed, reinstalled, started, restarted, changed the settings, turned other running apps off, it still does not work. The icon IS in the menu bar icon but the only way to make the little window pop out is with a shortcut. I WILL check for updateds to Yoink in case this gets fixed but until then, I am sticking to File it away which is less fancy but works flawlessly.
Does what it says and I find it useful.
Yoink is such a simple idea that tackles a very frustrating problem. Not only does the app function well, it is easy to use with a clean sharp design. This app will be on my recommendation list to friends.
I got a little issue trying to run the app with Yosemite, but the support from Yoink was amazing, incredible fast and now my Yoink is working as before! Great app that every Designer, photographer,etc.. should have :) highly recommended .
It just works!
One of the “can’t live without” essentials for the Mac.
I do not usually write reviews, but these guys deserve it. A very lightweight and simple solution for dragging files between applciations (attachments, photos, etc). Drag it to Yoink, bring the other app, drag it back in. Also work with dragging folders to change save-in locations. So simple, so transparent, so useful. Nicely done.
I tried Dropshelf, DragonDrop, and Yoink (they all have non-MAS trials by the way). Yoink won and I use it every day. Heres why: - Support for dragging in multiple items, either all together or from multiple sources (somewhat hidden feature: you can even combine multiple independent items of the same type to drag out with option + double click). - The support for dragging in multiple items doesnt mean you *have to* combine multiple items which turns out to be pretty important. So you can drag in three separate items and then drag them out one by one if thats what your workflow demands. You can also drag in three files and split them out into three independent items to drag out. The other utilities either dont support multiple items or only support one stack of items, or dont allow combining and pulling things apart in the way Yoink does. - Not tied to a particular method of dragging, screen edge dragging isnt always great for multiple monitors. You can even trigger Yoinks window with a keyboard shortcut. - Stable and well-maintained. One of things I value most is that Yoink allows me to fluidly do things that would otherwise be awkward or require many more steps. For example, if I want to send a file from an SFTP server to a colleague on Slack (chat service), I can drag the file from Transmit to Yoink. The file will be downloaded to Yoinks temporary storage, and the icon in Yoink will be semi-transparent until the file is fully downloaded. Once downloaded I can drag the file into Slack and carry on with my day. I dont have to open Finder, I dont have to remember to delete the file later, its fantastic. Yoink has the quality of many of my favourite apps (and things in life). It seems simple at first but it has a lot of depth and staying power. Given all the power Yoink has, it was the clear choice for me and has become a key part of my workflow. Download the trial and see for yourself.
Can not live wthout
This is one of those apps that I thought I would have no need for. I was perfectly happy dragging files and screenshots between apps and desktops/spaces, especially as I have a hot corner set to activate Mission Control, so I could activate it while dragging things. But then I upgraded to El Capitan, and I dont know what Apple has done, but dragging things between desktops is erratic. So I decided to give Yoink a whirl, and by the end of the two week demo, I was hooked. So much so that I bought Yoink at full price rather than wait for it to go on sale as it does occasionally. Check MacUpdate for a review by Cottser that is really helpful in deciding between Yoink and similar apps. There’s no ned to rehash what hes said. All I can say is that after a month or so of using Yoink, I cant live without it.
This is a great, simple program that makes your life so much easier. I wish I found this years ago (and for Windows!).
I use this app throughout the day, everyday. It doesn’t do much, but what it does do has become essential for me. I wouldn’t want to be without it now.
Great app! Very useful, i use it all the time :)
And you WILL love it. There is not much to say. This is a must-have tool that simply works! Thank You Matthias!
It’s incredibly simple and feels like something OS X should have by default. This sames time and further annoyance.
Thanks Matt for that last update. A complete bunch of features that I needed to love more Yoink!
When I first tried the demo a couple of days ago, I felt a little uncomfortable that Yoink blocks a portion of my desktop. I had to drag my windows constantly if I want to see what is underneath. Eventually I gave up, even though the idea suits my need. However, the new show/hide shortcut in the update perfectly resolve my problem and I’m happy to have it!
I couldnt do it without Yoink. moving files around between apps and even within Finder never was easier. love it. Update 2016: And I have never seen a software developer reacting so fast on an email reporting a glitch, it was fixed immediately. Where can I award six stars ??
